Who is Eligible for Membership?

Interested in joining APCO Employees Credit Union? You are eligible to become an APCO member if you are in any of the following categories:

• An employee or retiree of Alabama Power Company, Georgia Power, Mississippi Power, Southern Company Services, Southern Nuclear or other affiliated companies of the Southern Company.
• An employee or retiree of these designated groups or organizations.
• Family members, related by blood or marriage, to any APCO Credit Union member.

If you are not directly linked to one of these categories, drop by a branch or call. There may be other options for membership.

In 2023, APCO Employees Credit Union paid over $70 million in dividends and interest on deposits to Members. That’s over $30 million more than was returned in 2022, and significantly more than any other credit union in our market.

Joining is easy: Opening a new Share (Savings) Account with APCO Employees Credit Union is just $5 and give you access to all the great benefits APCO offers.

Once a member, always a member.

Your membership is for a lifetime. It is not affected by a job change, retirement or place of residence. The only requirement is that you keep at least $5 in your regular Share (Savings) Account and continue to use our services.

How to join

Joining APCO has never been easier! You can join online or download an application and stop by your local branch.

First, click here to be sure you are an employee of, retiree of, or family member of, one of our select groups.

Then click here to open your APCO account online. You’ll need to deposit at least $5 into a Share Account to join APCO.

Or if you’d prefer to open your account in branch, fill out a membership application and deposit at least $5 into a Share Account. Then you are ready to start taking advantage of the money making and money saving services available at your Credit Union.

Important information about procedures for opening a new account:

Federal law (the US Patriot Act) requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record all information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
